A big night-out atmosphere crackles in the dining room of Usmania Fine Dining. Their heated outdoor patio space is refined and romantic, however, they manage to infuse Indian-Pakistani influence into every corner. The menu they offer is quite extensive- traditional Indian, Pakistani, Fast Food menu of Gourmet Steaks, Burgers, and Matka specialties. With simple preparation and respect for the ingredients, their cuisine always shines with creativity. Their Matka entrees are truly one of their kind, with the best Biryani in Chicago.
Our advice: attend their weekend buffet. Usmania Fine Dining offers a specialty weekend brunch buffet from 12 pm to 4 pm on Saturday & Sunday. You can enjoy a bit of everything there, from their grilled entrees to their divine desserts.

2. BUNDOO KHAN

Prepare to have your olfactory senses aroused with the aroma of Grilled Kebabs, Barbecue Lamb Chops, and Heavenly Karahis. This is exactly what you will experience once you enter Bundoo Khan, a traditional Indian restaurant in Chicago located on Devon Avenue. Our favorites are from their grilled menu because you can never go wrong with that.
We are also a fan of their Karahis, with Highway Goat Leg karahi and Smoked Chicken Karahi at the top.
Our advice: try one of their Special Rolls to enjoy perfectly grilled meat, tender parathas with flavorful chutneys at the same time.

3. Anmol Restaurant

The name Anmol is an empire comprisingIndian restaurants in Chicago, Meat Outlets, Grocery Stores, Distribution Companies, and a Slaughterhouse. Their Chicago branch is located on Devon Avenue. Anmol empire has been a part of Chicago since 2015. Their cuisine has a sort of brilliance that only comes from years of intense love and attention to detail.
The food, as you might imagine, is impeccable with Chicken Makhni, Anmol Platter, and Haleem being our favorites.
Our advice: do try their Mutton and Vegetable Entrees and you won’t be disappointed. Be it their Daal Gosht, Malai Kofta, or Bhindi Masala, everything tastes divine.

4. Tabaq Restaurant

If you are not in the mood for any hogwash and just want to dive into authentic Indian and Pakistani food then Tabaq Restaurant is your place. The menu is short and precise and comprises the best South Asian food. Just a bite of their Mutton Korma or Chicken 65 and you will understand why it’s one of the most recognized desi restaurants in Chicago.
Whenever we visit this place, we know the service would be on par and the food irresistible.
Our advice: have any of their curry dishes or main dishes with closed eyes, it’s that good.

5. SHAN RESTAURANT

Booming on Sheridan Street, Shan restaurant is a casual Indian-Pakistani restaurant and grocery store. It has been serving authentic recipes from Pakistan and India to locals and tourists alike. Shan’s samosas are a crowd favorite and bigger than what most places serve. So, don’t fill up on the appetizer—save room for the best biryani in Chicago!
At Shan, you can enjoy an array of authentic traditiona South Asian sweets such as Barfee, Ladoo, Qalaqand, and Cham-cham.

In the cluster of craziness that’s become Chicago’s Little India, a few spots rise above the noise. One, in particular, is Sabri Nihari. Although Sabri Nihari serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it is famous for never-before-tasted nihari. Their website states that in 25 years of experience, they have prepared over 4 million lbs. of Nihari in 2.1 million orders. Now that’s dedication. A generous portion of tender beef in their nihari will definitely warm you up on cold Chicago winters.
Other than Nihari, Sabri Nihari also serves other traditional delicacies, including Grilled, Rice and Curry entrees.
Our advice: if you come here and don’t get one of their Nihari entrees, you are doing it all wrong.

7. Karachi Chaat House

Karachi street-style food in Chicago? Anytime, any day. Check your spice tolerance with their amazing Papdi Chaat. Or, have the juiciest of Bun Kebabs and Roll Parathas. Oh, while you are at it, their Dahi Puri and Pani Puri are nothing short of sheer awesomeness. And to gulp it all down, you will need a glass of chilled Mango Lassi. It may not be like your typical Indian restaurants in Chicago, it’s a fast-food space for Indian food. The food is splendid and the atmosphere is buoyant and the whole place is a lot of fun.
Our advice: don’t fill up on burgers and rice items so that you have space for the real showstoppers: their tempting chaats.

8. Mogha Dishu

In the heart of Chicago lies a great restaurant offering authentic Zesty South African cuisine. You may not call it traditional Indian food but the South Asians love this space with hearty, decadent menu offerings. Comfort food is a specialty at Mogha Dishu. We always enjoy their Salmon/Chicken with Bariis (rice), Beef/Chicken Suqaar, and Kay Kay with Chicken/Beef/Vegetable. Flavors sing in menu items and it’s a convivial dining experience each time we visit.
Our Advice: let’s not forget their authentic Anjera with sweet tea and olive oil for a marvelous South African experience.

9. Schaumburg Grill

A charming neighborhood restaurant on a quaint corner, which you might find yourself visiting again and again. Their menu features some of the top can’t-miss dishes such as Tandoor Chicken, Butter Chicken, and Dum Ka Murgh. The sleek and contemporary space is an excellent arrangement for colorful dishes.
The restaurant’s sophisticated dining room is perfect for a formal business lunch, romantic dining, or enjoying a festive party. We are a fan of Schaumburg Grill food, culinary elegance on the plate, and aesthetic grace in the space.
Our advice: be sure to order one of their curries from the Veggie/Non-veggies Entrees Section to experience the finest of comfort foods.

10. Tandoor Char House

Tandoor Char House is one of the best representations of Pakistani and Indian cuisine in town. It has locations in River North and Lincoln Park and is owned by two brothers. The Sardharia brothers have spent many years perfecting Indian and Pakistani recipes to celebrate their parents’ cooking.
They provide an abundance of options, with Tamarind Wings, Assorted Mix Grill Platter, and Tikka Masala Tacos among our favorites. They also serve the best vegetable entrees and Biryanis in Chicago.
Our advice: Like a lot of the city’s best restaurants, they are catering to dine-in guests on a reservation basis only. So, make sure that you have a space reserved before you plan a visit.
